What We Know & What We Believe
We know there’s a nationwide shortage of housing for people with disabilities resulting in waiting lists, people living in substandard housing, and parents worrying about where their adult children will live when they can no longer care for them. This is simply unacceptable.
We believe the solution lies in working together – CDFIs, banks, investors, families, social service providers, developers and government entities. By bringing individual and institutional resources together, whether you’re a bank or a parent with a child with a disability soon to leave home to live on his own, we can develop more housing for today and tomorrow. The solutions are varied and depend on local resources and markets. Home ownership, group homes, and condominiums are just a few of the possibilities.
With secure housing, people with disabilities live more independently and contribute more to society; as a society, we’re collectively stronger.
