What We Do
The DOF bridges the disability market and community development financial institutions (CDFIs), which have the necessary infrastructure and resources to address the continuing needs of this growing market.
What is technical assistance?
Technical assistance is gathering the right resources to create housing. The DOF coordinates and streamlines the relationship between the disability market, the CDFI industry, government agencies and service providers. We convene the right parties to collectively craft housing solutions, using a variety of strategies.
For example, while parents or social service agencies see there is a lack of housing for their children or clients, they don’t always know how to proceed to create housing. We assist with developing business plans and strategies. We help clarify what housing is appropriate, what organizations can help, and how to access the right resources.
