Rise For Autism

Parents of adults with Autism have few good options when confronting the prospect of their son’s or daughter’s future.

How will they be cared for when they (the parents) are gone? Where will they live? With the prevalence of autism at 1 in 110 children, the already large adult population of adults with autism will increase exponentially over the next decade.

There are answers to these questions. RiSE for AUTISM facilitates the financing of housing options aimed at parents of adults with autism.

Autism Speaks and The DOF

Autism Speaks, the country’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those living with autism endorses The DOF. Autism Speaks’ own program, Advancing Futures for Adults with Autism, complements Rise for AUTISM by raising awareness of the need for answers to this growing problem.

Through this partnership, The DOF and Autism Speaks will rally public and private support so that every adult with autism can live the fullest life possible with dignity and purpose.

Opening Doors

Within the next 15 years, more than 500,000 Americans with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) will enter adulthood. The numbers are staggering and give rise to serious concern among families, service providers and government that residential services for post school ages adults with autism and developmental disorders must be created as an integral part of a healthy community’s housing plan and opportunities.

The study, Opening Doors, A Discussion of Residential Options for Adults Living with Autism and Related Disorders can be found at Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center.
