Bridging the Tuition Gap for a “First-Class” School

iHOPE-NYC opened its doors at 101 West 116th Street in Central Harlem and began enrolling students in September of 2013. As a highly specialized school, it serves children, adolescents and young adults from ages 5 years to 21 years old who have sustained an acquired brain injury or other brain-based disorders, and who cannot be served in their local school systems. It meets a significant and unmet need in the NYC community, while also serving as a model of best practices and high tech solutions in the delivery of educational brain injury services.

DOF provided $4,400,000 “gap” financing to allow iHope to operate while they awaited tuition reimbursement from New York City’s Department of Education. Our loan helped increase student enrollment which helped iHope expand its school campus.
